The show must go on....

Ok...now I can see well enough to type, it is time for an update!!!

My surgery last week went ok, they found another hole they had to fix but that should come as no surprise to anyone who knows me, as I am much holier than most!! Seriously though, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers coming my way. I feel totally blessed by my experience, especially when I look at how much worse it could have been. I am lucky I was here and not traveling when this happened, I am lucky my tears are on the top of my retina, if they were on the bottom, I would have to lie face down 24/7 for two weeks...and I am blessed to have had this happen when there is a surgery to correct this. 10 years ago they could not have fixed me!!!
So for the trip news, all of my friends are off having great adventures at the many sites around the country and the updates keep coming in. I am so thankful for my friends who are sharing their stories, as the view from the recliner never changes, except for one hour a day when I get to stare at the floor!!!
Denise and Michelle have been in Arizona. They have learned-from the prisoners-how to make a lighter from paper clips, what a keister is, how to make a coffee mug with popsicle sticks and a tattoo gun from a pen and a cd player motor. Also, the value of a cell phone in prison....$800!!!

Louise made it to Florida just to find that there was not a rental car to be found, but I worked my magic and found someone who could hook her up and she is now driving around in a very nice Dodge Caravan!!! She had to drive 2 and a half hours last night in the pouring rainstorm!! Probably cursing me the whole entire time!! But today she hooked up with a Rep from Florida named Bob and she said they are driving around in a white Hummer 2 and she had THE best french fries ever for lunch, so I think I have been forgiven...I hope!!
I saved the best for last....my fabulous husband decided that he did not want me to be on a train for 3 days and so he is driving me to Texas on Tuesday!!! We will stop in New Mexico on Tuesday night and get to Texas on Wednesday!! Louise will fly in to Texas on Thursday and Ken flies out and so the adventure will go on!!! We will have my car and so we won't have to ride the rails!! Everything is falling into place!!
Just a sidenote, Kenneth has requested that we change the name of the blog until he drops me off and the name he has chosen is.....Thelma and Louis on the road!!! Since he is Driving Miss Lazy I have to humor him!!!

The terrible, awful, very worst day!!!

Day 3.....booooooooo!!! Today was horrible!!! Thelma (aka Jodi) got the worst news ever....Louise is going to be on the road solo for 10 sleeps!!! No we are not fighting! Apparently my retina and my eye decided to have a trial seperation.....not good my friends! The result...TOTAL blindness in my right eye....the plan....eye surgery in the a.m.....the bad news....no flying for 4 weeks....the plan for the rest of the 19 sleeps....I will get my big butt on an Amtrak train for 72 hours and meet up with Louise in Texas!!! Yes, this does suck more than you know....however, I have not overlooked the blessings in this situation-I am kindof a glass half full gal-We were supposed to be in Reno today but our enrollment was postponed! And we had never booked our flight home, so we are getting on another Amtrak train for 48 hours to get from Texas to Reno!! The plan is they are going to take my eyeball out, patch it up with some silicone, put a gas bubble in it and put me on recliner rest-because I cannot lay flat for 4 weeks. And I cannot fly because the gas bubble in my eye will explode, but the good news is they can restore my sight, which I am very thankful for!! So even though I got some really bad news today, it could be so much worse! I am lucky because my detachment is on the top of my eye, if it was on the bottom, after the surgery, I would have to lay flat on my belly for 4 weeks...so I really am blessed!! Thanks for listening to me rant....I am so sorry to my BFF Louise, but I promise when I get to Texas, we are going to have the adventure of a lifetime....XXOO T&L

Day 2...the fun continues

So...today is day 2! Still just went to Clearfield, but was much much much busier!!! Louise has either passed her kidney stones or over-medcated them...she felt much better today!! Thelma's eye situation worsened today and I am going to the eye doc in the a.m., I know it is not technically the third day but I am panicking!!! Today was our friend Denises birthday, not going to say a number but it is between 49 and 51...we had a fabulous lunch at Zuppas and birthday brulee to celebrate. Nothing really sticks out as being really funny today, Denise wanted me to write that I did have an incident involving some sort of urination situation yesterday, because I refuse to use a public toilet, but I am not going to talk about that!!!! IT"S STARTED!!!

So today was day one, we only traveled to Clearfield, Utah but the adventures have begun. The day started with Thelma (jodi) having some sort of an eye problem, flashes of light and floaters, no pain just blurry vision, but I checked on the internet and they said not to panic for 3 days and so I won't. Louise (Barbi) had some back pain, (to be honest I thought she was faking to get out of work, she does that sometimes!)...the day ended with her scheduled for xrays to look for kidney stones....I was wrong, she was not faking. We had to go to RiteAid to get some ink pens, where a very, very, very handsome male commented on how I was beautiful and how I rocked out my style, dude!!! Yes, he was handicapped and possibly had some vision problems himself, but hey I got hit on and that is all that matters. Tomorrow the fun continues......

Update!!!

Ok, so here is the update!!! We are leaving here for our fabulous adventure in 13 sleeps!!! We will be gone for 19 sleeps, the first leg of our trip!! We will go first to Florida then to Georgia then to the state of Texas!!! Then we come home for 1 sleep and leave for Reno for 4 sleeps!!!! We are beyond excited!! And for those of you worried that we might have too much togetherness, we are BFF's and we know all about each other! She snores and I have bigger boobs!!! So no surprises here!!! Stay tuned for the adventure of a lifetime!! And feel free to live vicariously through us and don't hate....appreciate!!! XXOO!!!
